Hundreds of Rockland County residents attended the public hearing at Haverstraw Town Hall on Tuesday, March 6 at 2pm and 6pm to listen to and make comments on United Water New York’s proposed desalination plant for Hudson Valley drinking water. This was the only public hearing scheduled and the room was packed to capacity for both meetings. At the 6pm meeting, the room was filled quickly and about 100 more people filled the lobby and poured into the parking lot because fire codes restricted the total number of people allowed into the room.
